Transport Licensing

A modern Road Transport Administration System (RTAS) has been introduced to support the management of transport-related services and improve service delivery to the public.

The system supports a range of transport administration functions including:

Driver Licensing
Motor Vehicle Registration
Vehicle Ownership Management
Vehicle Number Plate Management
Vehicle Inspection and Compliance
Licensing and Registration Renewals
Revenue Collection and Receipting

The RTAS platform has been designed to improve efficiency, transparency, accuracy, and accessibility of transport services.

Over time, additional online services and digital functionality will continue to be introduced, including online applications, renewals, payment services, status tracking, and automated notifications.

Users are encouraged to ensure that:

Driver licences remain current and valid
Vehicle registrations are renewed on time
Ownership records are kept up to date
Vehicles comply with inspection and roadworthiness requirements
Display physical licence plates that are obtained from SIIRD

Fees

Vehicle Number Plates

From 1 July 2014, new vehicle number plates will be issued to all vehicles with the exception of G, X and Diplomatic plated vehicles. The new plates will make it easier to identify unlicensed and unregistered vehicles. There will be no fee charged for the initial replacement of the new number plates.
